Biography
James Burkholder is presently an Artist represented by Rockartscity Online Gallery in Harlingen, Texas. He completed his first oil painting at the age of 11. Since then he has had a passion for drawing, painting, and photographing wildlife and landscapes. His background of hunting and fishing has enriched his ability to visualize images to place them on canvas. James learned to paint from his Mother who was a professional artist. Then, He took art classes at Harlingen High School with Evelyn Wallace and Bernice Coleman. James also took art lessons from Don Cincone of Louisiana, and participated in Don’s artist group selling paintings.
James has shown art and won awards at Southwestern University Fine Arts, Rio Fest, and the Beachcomber Art Shows. He is also a guitar player in a classic rock band, The Retro Rockers. Retiring from a 37 year career in restorative and implant dentistry has enabled him to have time for his music and art. He has recently entered a new avenue of painting plein air.
