Biography
Originally from Canada, Janice Wright now calls Arvada, Colorado her home. She went to college with the intent to study geology, but that changed when she discovered her favorite class was the one where she could create pencil drawings of the rock samples. She quickly transferred to an Art College and after graduation, worked as a graphic designer for over fifteen years. A one year residence in Europe provided her the opportunity to see paintings that previously she had only see in art history books. Profoundly moved by the experience, she stopped producing commercial art and began to paint in earnest. Influenced by the dynamic brush strokes of Van Gogh, and the American Expressionists Franz Kline and Robert Motherwell, she works in acrylic. An avid hiker and photographer, she draws upon the landscape around her for subject matter and inspiration. She has had multiple exhibits in Canada and the US and has won much acclaim for her work.
