Plein Air Artwork
Adjectives that have been used to describe my work are expressive, joyful, textural, colorful and ebullient. Whether working plein air or in my studio, a sublime connection with nature permeates my paintings. Varied and interesting usage of color and texture are intrinsic in all of my paintings.

As a self-taught, life-long artist who paints primarily in oils and soft pastels, tactile qualities and vibrancy are always key elements in my work. I have had several wonderful mentors/teachers who have taught me methodology used in Russian impressionism and color technique, as well as brushwork, values and composition.

I began showing and selling my work in 2015. My first solo show was in March 2015 in Cherry Hills, Colorado at One2One Gallery. I was “Artist of the Month” in August 2015 at Cherokee Ranch & Castle, - Sedalia, Colorado and have shown there again in January and March of 2016. I participated in “Meet the Artist Festival – Frisco, Colorado” in September 2015 and sold many pieces. I am currently exhibiting at “Art On the Edge” Gallery in Castle Rock.

Upcoming shows for my work are scheduled for June, November and December of 2016. My work will be on display in many Colorado festivals and plein air competitions this summer and fall, including the Douglas County Plein Air event in June. I will be showing and selling my work at the 5th Annual Plein Air Convention in Tucson in April 2016.

I am a member of Plein Air Painters of Colorado, Pastel Artists of Colorado, Greater Castle Rock Art Guild and the Denver Art Students League. As the founding member and chairperson of the Arts Committee at Cherokee Ranch & Castle in Sedalia, I am very involved in building long-term arts and programs at this historic castle and ranch.

I look forward to sharing my passion for art and nature, color and textures with audiences throughout Colorado and beyond. My work can be viewed at www.pattydwyerartist.com or on Facebook at Patty Dwyer Artist.
